To Get Bent Out Of Shape

If you get bent out of shape about something it means that you are annoyed or frustrated with a situation. The person that is bent out of shape could even be angry about something you’ve said.

    For example:

He’s all bent out of shape because of what I said at the party.

Oh, don’t get bent out of shape about it! I was just kidding!

As you can see by the example, it can be used to tell someone to relax or calm down. You would usually say this to friends or at least people that you know well.

Be careful with people that you don’t know. You could come across as a little rude.

So what do you think? Are you easily bent out of shape, or are you the calm and relaxed type?

Oh, I'm okay now, thanks. It was just one extremely lousy week.

Yes, very easily. Looking back at this last week, I think I spent it permanently bent out of shape, and sometimes it seems to me that most people I communicate with are in a sort of a conspiracy to make things even worse for me. I've been posting so little in this forum to avoid saying things I might regret later on.

    I envy Victor
